Upcoming QT Birthday & Brand New SMP Event!
October 1st will be Qubetuber’s 2 year Birthday! From our humble beginnings as a Minecraft livestreaming site, we have grown into a vibrant and active community. Over our 2 year span, we have had famous guests, interviews with Indie Developers, thousands of wild and wacky streams, countless Minecraft SMP events, and raised over $100,000 for charity!
It’s been an awesome time, and one of the ways we are celebrating our upcoming Birthday is with a brand new Minecraft SMP event called: Dungeon Quest
Here’s what the Dungeon Quest event is all about: Players take on the role of explorers in a strange new world. You are allowed to bring your own supplies into the event area, but if you die your items can be taken by anyone! You are tasked with exploring this new world, surviving in the wild, and discovering ancient ruins.
If you discover ruins like these, it means there is at least 1 dungeon entrance somewhere nearby. There are over 10 dungeons to discover and explore! If you are the first to reach the center of the dungeon, you can place a sign with your name on it on the emerald block to claim the discovery as your own!
Players will receive prizes for each emerald chamber they are the first to discover. There are also villages in this world. Exploring the villages is optional and PVP IS ENABLED within the village walls, but there are also free supplies to be found inside hidden chests within the homes.
So make sure to join us on October 1st to celebrate our Birthday and take part in the Dungeon Quest event!
Oh, and one more thing: We will have a big SECRET ANNOUNCEMENT to make during our Birthday celebrations, so you really should try to be there, and invite your friends! Hope to see you there folks!
Disrespecting on GuildWars2 skill system!
Hello Qubetubers, Disrespecting here!
I’ve recently like many others started playing newly released Guild Wars 2 (GW2).
Now even though I’ve been playing MMO’s for as long as i can remember, having played the original Guild Wars (GW) pretty much ensured that I’d buy It’s sequal, GW2.
But I was left wondering, do I really like this new skill system GW2 uses, or did i prefer the skill system in the original Guild Wars?
The gameplay still sticks to a small amount of skills at a time, but GW had too many to count, and guild wars two offers a very limited amount of skills in comparison which is not necessarily a bad thing!
Not only will this be easier to balance for Arenanet, It’ll also be easier to become familiar with the build you prefer, and you can do so way before you ever hit level cap, personally playing my elementalist i unlocked all the skills i could have on day one of release.
Keep in mind that looks may be deceiving, because while I’m only able to see 10 skills on screen at a time playing my elementalist, switching between the elements gives me another set of skills ( 5 per element, 4 elements, + special skills for a total of 25 skills plus underwater abilities when you’re in said situation )
Comboing these elements together can get really interesting and difficult especially in PvP!
long story short - If you liked collecting skills and traveling around the world to find them guild wars 2 disappointingly leaves that out for you, however if you enjoy being competitive and equal to everyone else in PvP situations and the like, guild wars 2’s skill system is definitely for you!
Me? I miss skill collecting, but see guild wars 2 as a game not related to It’s predecessor, gameplay is very different in general, but Guild Wars remains charming as ever, this addict is now off to play some more!

The MineCraft Marathon for Child’s Play 2012 hosted by QubeTubers.
The event was held over the weekend from 3rd to 5th of August, 2012. The event was aimed at raising awareness for Child’s Play, an organisation which helps to improve the lives of children in hospitals worldwide. Child’s Play has raised millions of dollars in the last five years and have brought smiles and laughter to kids who really need joy in their lives.
The event was heavily publicised on Qubetubers, Minecraft Forums, and by many Minecraft personalities including Notch, Direwolf, ihasCupquake and GeneriKB. On average, we maintained 1000-2000 viewers watching our streams, and QubeTubers helped to raise more than US$66,000 for Child’s Play after an initial target of US$50,000. Notch dropped by and donated US$10,000! We were all knocked off our feet when the counter jumped and crossed the target in one fell hit!
The Twitch channel was kept live with Minecraft being streamed during the entire 48 hours. Guest streamers included many popular YouTubers such as HuskyMudkipz, InTheLittleWood, IAmSp00n and OMFGcata.
We have our wonderful guests, the amazing Minecraft community and the tireless work of Syntria, Disrespecting, Razastrophy, TTK and the Qubetubers staff (and of course, the Child’s Play Marathon expert directionalpad) to create and coordinate yet another successful event!

Total Raised $70,568.00 (Main Event + Encore Total) in 2012
Total Raised in 2011 and 2012 has been 108k for Charity (Child’s Play and WWF)
We had 1915 donations made by 1176 contributors with the top five donators being Notch ($10,000), David Z. ($5,656.45), Nathan G. ($3,050.00), Warren L. ($3,000.00) and Erik F. ($2,205.00). Two people followed with 2k+ and two more with 1k+. The person who donated most often donated 32 separate times!

Streamer Rules
- Will stream for 1 Hour each (Game of their choice - Game Sounds optionally muted.)
- Will use a web-cam if available. (Optionally you can wear duct tape over your mouth - just be careful!)
- No speaking during the stream. (Except for a brief dedication as to why that particular guest/streamer is doing a silent stream at the start! then they may speak for the final moments of their stream about whatever issue they’d like. They can choose however to instead write notes to show the stream instead of speaking.)
- Can communicate however they would like on stream as long as they don’t speak. Typing in notepad, writing on themselves, dry-erase boards, charades, etc.
Chat Rules
- Chatters may type in chat but are asked to attempt not to speak in real life while the streamer is not permitted to speak.
- Chatters are highly encouraged to say their age/race/sexual orientation/religion in chat as long as they don’t spam it.
- Keep Chat PG-13. Repeated offensive/derogatory comments will result in a event-long ban.

24 hour Easter Sunday Event
This is going to be a simple event consisting of 24 hours of live content including MineCraft, Skyrim, BF3, and more. There will also be some random-game giveaways as well as Easter Events on the MineCraft Server (mc.qubetubers.com) as well as a potential random game-giveaway for people using the Mumble! (Server qubetubers.com default port). So let us be your family this Sunday if you haven’t your own events planned. We’ll make sure your not alone. :)

e that will transform Qubetubers.com from a simple streaming community into a robust and resource rich Gaming Community. Complete with Flash-Games, Various Game servers (CS, TF2, L4D2, Killing Floor are some potentials), Articles/Reviews/Announcements, and other great resources all in a spiffy new easier to use layout.
New Game Servers
We are wanting to add some new game servers. Currently we only have our MineCraft SMP. We’d like to add several new servers to our list to give you, the community, more resources to enjoy. These could include CS, TF2, L4D2, TTD, Killing Floor, UT3, and More.
Charity Events
Ever since QubeTubers started in Oct 2010 and I watched it grow from a few
people to a large passionate team, I’ve wanted to focus our goals and resources towards Charity. I’ve always wanted to support the community with game-giveaways and activities as well but primarily I wanted big events that raised awareness and money for worthy causes. Qubetubers has never been and I don’t imagine ever will be used for self-profit of those involved in it.
Further more, the events that are in preplanning are the IndieWeekend2 which would consist of special YouTube Guests and Game-Developer interviews as well as a 48 Hour MineCraft Marathon with special guests. These events are on hold until the new website is up and running.
